If your laptop or PC is old model and is not supporting newest windows 10 Updates, then it take hours to update and roll back updated component because your PC/Laptop hardware is not supporting it.
it will not stop updating even if you stop windows update service from Task manager. instead you can try this.
click on WINDOWS LOGO key and R (it will open RUN option)
type GPEDIT.MSC hit enter
It will open Group policy editor
click on
-administrative Templates
click on
–Windows components
click on
—Windows Update ( find below listed components on right side panel – when you click on it it will open a window with options)
—-Configure Automatic Update – Disable (click on Disable and then OK)
—-Automatic Update detection frequency – Disable (click on Disable and then OK)
—-No Auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations – Enable (click on Enable and then OK)
Apply – close – restart your PC/Laptop
