Changing 4G mobile with 5G settings to speedup Internet Speed

To add a new APN (Access Point Name) for Google DNS in your Android mobile SIM settings to potentially enhance the speed or stability of your 5G connection, follow these steps:

1. Open APN Settings

  • Go to Settings on your Android device.
  • Tap on Network & Internet or Connections (depending on your phone).
  • Select Mobile Network or Cellular Network.
  • Tap on Access Point Names (APN).

2. Create a New APN

  • Once in the APN settings, tap on the + (Add) icon (this may be at the top or bottom of the screen).

3. Enter the Google DNS Settings

  • You’ll now see fields to input the APN details. Enter the following information:
    • Name: Google DNS (or any name you prefer).
    • APN: Leave this field blank, as it’s usually set by the carrier.
    • MCC: 310 (for the USA, change if you’re in a different region).
    • MNC: 260 (for T-Mobile, change depending on your carrier).
    • Authentication Type: Select None (or as per your carrier’s specification).
    • APN Type: Choose default or internet (depending on your carrier).
    • DNS 1: 8.8.8.8 (Google’s primary DNS).
    • DNS 2: 8.8.4.4 (Google’s secondary DNS).

4. Save the APN

  • After entering the necessary fields, tap on the three dots or menu in the top right corner of the screen and select Save.

5. Select the New APN

  • Once saved, your new APN will appear in the list of available APNs. Tap on it to select it.

6. Restart the Phone

  • To ensure the changes take effect, restart your phone.

7. Verify the 5G Connection

  • After restarting, ensure your phone is showing the 5G network. You may need to check with your carrier if you have active 5G service in your area.

Notes:

  • Google DNS is generally used for faster, more reliable internet browsing but might not directly switch you to 5G. The ability to connect to 5G depends primarily on your device, carrier, and location.
  • Carrier Settings: Some carriers automatically adjust settings, so even if you add the Google DNS APN, you might need to check with your carrier for full 5G support.
